INJURED HORSE COMES BACK TO WIN TOP PRIZE AT LOCAL DRESSAGE SHOW
Albuquerque, NM -- Sunday, October 7, 2007 -- Ulla Hudson FN, riding her stallion Widor won first place in Grand Prix, the highest level in FEI dressage competition, on both days of the New Mexico Dressage Association's Harvest Fling show at the Expo New Mexico Show-ground.
The result is even more amazing because a few years ago Widor's show career was ended by an injury. By careful training and attention to modern methods of rehabilitation, Hudson returned him to competition condition. Widor has a long record of success under the training and ridership of Hudson and as a youngster won all eight classes at Level II in the Pantano show at Phoenix.
"This is a dream come true and Widor proved himself a wonderful performer," said Hudson after the show,"I can't wait to represent New Mexico in regional shows and show the competition what we have in New Mexico."
The event was a special treat for the spectators because Grand Prix Dressage is not often seen in New Mexico. A group of loyal fans was on hand to cheer her victory and wish her luck in future shows.
"Today's result was especially satisfying because a few years ago it seemed impossible to bring him back to competition," said Hudson," for all those younger riders watching it proved that long hours of hard work and training really do pay off."
Ulla Hudson holds Germany’s top qualification for equestrian trainers, the Trainer A of the German FN (Reitlehrer, FN) in both show-jumping and dressage with FEI extension in dressage. She is the only trainer in New Mexico, and one of only a handful outside Germany, with this advanced qualification. She holds the German FN Silver Performance Medal and the Silver and Bronze Medals of the United States Dressage Federation. She teaches at Windsong Dressage Center, an 80 acre full-service horse facility in the East Mountains of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Windsong opened in 1984 and is located South of Santa Fe and East of Albuquerque. Riders from many different disciplines, and all levels, train at Windsong.
